Delivering a surprise tipi in time for Christmas:
Planning for the Christmas and New Year tipi surprisingly began in July 2015. Working closely with the owner and management team of the Royal Oak, we designed a solution that met complex site needs. We designed a sophisticated and innovative installation system which penetrated the tarmac and concrete of the rear patio area. With mixed textures and surfaces such as bark, gravel and hard landscaping complete with edging and shrubbery a false wooden floor was installed to guarantee a level and even underfoot surface. A clear erection/dismantle plan was agreed prior, ensuring the tipis were delivered ‘just-in-time’, without revealing the surprise. With a day’s clearance before the merriments, it offered the management sufficient time for a dry-run and a safety handover. On-site liaisons were held throughout to review and refine requirements. At each point, the Royal Oak was provided with up-to-date costings and itemised plans detailing the agreed finishing touches. Final decisions regarding location across the restricted pathway were made collaboratively at the point of install. To assist with navigation and pathway marking to the pub, we provided additional matting denoting the new walkway and entrance. With a positive approach to last-minute tweaks, we installed external lighting which accentuated the striking effect. Throughout the hire period, our team revisited to perform general maintenance and safety checks ensuring it remained in excellent condition for the forthcoming New Year festivities.
